Punjab Kings are set to host their upcoming matches in the Indian Premier league 2024 at a new stadium in Mullanpur, Mohali. Beginning from the brand-new season of the IPL, Punjab Kings will play their home games at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur.

Previously, the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali had hosted the games for Punjab Kings (formerly known as Kings XI Punjab) for around 16 years of the tournament.

The fans of the team franchise can now experience the thrilling encounters of the team at a contemporary stadium. The Mullanpur stadium is expected to host a spectator capacity of 33,000.

In the latest press release for the inauguration of the newly-tinted Stadium, the authorities revealed the exclusive amenities present in the stadium for the convenience of the spectators.

"The stadium, which has hosted domestic matches for the last couple of years, comprises all the modern facilities and top class infrastructure, and can host a capacity of 33,000 fans. It is equipped with two international-standard dressing rooms having facilities for steam, sauna and ice bath, while a world-class gym has also been set up at this complex," the statement read.

While delays in the game due to downpours is one of the major factors for the team’s strategies to be affected, the new stadium promises to clear the wet outfield within 25-30 minutes after the showers.

"The Mullanpur stadium also has a well-equipped herringbone drainage system, which helps in the removal of water within 25-30 minutes after the rain stops. Instead of using traditional soil, the ground is made of sand, which is difficult to maintain, but provides good stability," the statement further read.

Punjab Kings will begin their campaign for the 17th season of IPL against Delhi Capitals on 23rd March, Saturday under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan. The game will mark the first test of the newly inaugurated stadium as Punjab Kings will take on the Capitals.
