India's legendary batter Rohit Sharma registered another failure in the Kanpur Test against Bangladesh. The Indian captain, who scored a quick-fire 23 in the first innings, fell victim to his aggressive intent yet again during the run-chase.

After Bangladesh set a paltry 95-run target for India, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal stepped out to open the batting for the home side. Considering the target was less than hundred runs, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto introduced ace spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz straightaway into the attack.

Also, keeping Rohit's tendency to play the sweep shot, Shanto took a gamble, keeping a deep mid-wicket catching position for the Indian talisman. His captaincy masterclass worked wonders for Bangladesh, with Mehidy outfoxing the Indian captain for the second time in this match.

Bowling his second over, the off-spinner tossed the ball up, inviting Rohit for a sweep shot. As the stylish right-handed batter took the aerial route, he hit it straight to Hasan Mahmud, who took a simple catch near the deep mid-wicket fence to dismiss him. This was Rohit's second successive failure in the Kanpur Test, as he finished the game with 31 runs across two innings.

Kohli Joins Jaiswal After India Lose Gill Early In 2nd Innings

After dismissing Rohit, Mehidy Hasan trapped Shubman Gill plumb in front of the stumps for six runs. Following his departure, legendary batter Virat Kohli joined Yashasvi Jaiswal in the middle to steady the ship for the hosts. At the time of writing, India were 50 for two, needing 45 more runs to win the Kanpur Test.
