MS Dhoni is one of the greatest cricketers the world has ever seen. Besides his scintillating stroke play and astute leadership, Dhoni's calm demeanour makes him one of the most followed personalities in world cricket. However, in a rare incident, the talismanic cricketer lost his cool following Chennai Super Kings' heartbreaking defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League.

A reputed Indian journalist claimed Dhoni was livid after CSK lost the game. He quoted legendary Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh, who apparently disclosed the incident before him. Speaking to his colleagues on his show, the journalist revealed that Dhoni expressed frustration after RCB emerged victorious in the nail-biting clash. The talismanic keeper-batter even broke a TV as his side got knocked out of the tournament.

How Did MS Dhoni Fail To Finish The RCB Vs CSK IPL 2024 Match?

Notably, the RCB vs CSK was one of the most watched games in the IPL this year. Batting first, the Royal Challengers posted a mammoth 218-run total, thanks to the valuable contributions from Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green. In response, CSK were in a spot of bother, losing six wickets for 129 runs, before MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja's counterattacking knocks brought them back into the contest.

However, Dhoni, unarguably the greatest IPL finisher, failed to secure a win for the five-time champions, as Yash Dayal dismissed him to swing the game in RCB's favour.

MS Dhoni To Play IPL 2025 As An Uncapped Player

As per the BCCI's recently revealed IPL retention policy, MS Dhoni can be retained as an uncapped player, not having featured in an international match since July 2019. Apart from Dhoni, several Indian veterans can get the advantage of this rule, as the franchises will likely retain them at cheaper prices.
