In a do-or-die game against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women, Gujarat Giants Women's openers Beth Mooney and Laura Wolvaardt reprimanded Asha Sobhana with a couple of awe-inspiring boundaries.

Gujarat Giants have had a terrible start to the WPL 2024 season, having lost all the games played until today. They sit at the bottom of the points table with zero points to their tally.

Regardless, the Beth Mooney-led side stepped out to secure their pride against RCB-W earlier today at Delhi's Arun Jaitley stadium. Skipper Beth Mooney walked out with Laura Wolvaardt after opting to bat first and unleashed an early attack.

After putting up nearly 60 runs inside the powerplay, the openers shifted gears to capitalize on the momentum.

Meanwhile, Smriti Mandhana, who seemed a little clueless with her counter-attack plan, introduced Asha Sobhana into the attack.

Sobhana had a terrific start to the season, where she grabbed a fifer. Thus, Smriti trusted her to go for the kill and fetch the much-needed breakthrough.

However, Asha was outclassed by Mooney and Wolvaardt's assault. In the ninth over, Asha miscued with a short delivery on the middle stump line, and Wolvaardt punished the delivery with a smashing pull past the deep mid-wicket boundary. While the fielder made a sprint, she was beaten by the powerful shot.

In the same over, GG-W captain Beth Mooney decided to join the party. Under pressure, Asha Sobhana ended up bowling a full toss outside the off-stump line. Mooney picked it up and danced down the track to hammer a boundary through the extra cover gap.

With those sensational boundaries, Gujarat Giants' scoreboard flashed 87/0 with the 9th over still in play. Needless to say, GG-W are off to a flier start, and given the platform, they stand a chance to post the highest total in WPL history.
