In a breathtaking match that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clinched a thrilling victory against UP Warriorz at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, in the second game of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024. 

The star of the day, Sobhana Asha, turned the game on its head with a remarkable 5-wicket haul, the first for any RCB bowler in the league's history.

RCB, batting first, set a challenging total of 157 runs, thanks to significant contributions from Sabbhineni Meghana (53 runs) and Richa Ghosh, who added a rapid 62 runs towards the end. UP Warriorz, in their chase, seemed to be cruising to victory, courtesy of a 77-run partnership between Grace Harris and Shweta Sehrawat. 

However, the match witnessed a dramatic turn in the 17th over when Asha stepped up, showcasing her spin magic.

During the final ball of the 17th over when Kiran Navgire was out-stumped by Richa Ghosh, off Asha's bowling. Navgire, attempting an aggressive hit, was deceived by Asha's cleverly bowled flat delivery that stayed low off the outside stump. 

Ghosh, demonstrating exceptional skill behind the stumps, completed the stumping in a flash, marking Asha's fifth wicket of the match.

Her final figures stood at an impressive 5 wickets for 22 runs, earning her the Player of the Match accolade. This performance not only highlighted her skill but also marked a significant milestone in WPL history, as she became only the fourth bowler to achieve a 5-wicket haul in the league.
