Captain Shaheen Afridi blazed his way to a mercurial Lahore Qalandars recovery amidst their faltering start against Islamabad United seam attack. 

Making his way to the crease mere moments after the opening powerplay, Afridi bashed a scourge of towering sixes off United bowlers, including a scorching hit way over the wide long-on region against seasoned veteran Imad Wasim.

Shaheen ended up clubbing 30 runs in all from just 14 deliveries to lift Qalandar's scoring rate after their 26-run powerplay start at the top.

Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi, who usually bats lower down the order, employed himself at number five after his side slipped to 30-3 off 6.4 overs. 

Despite Qalandars' repeated top-order setbacks, captain Shaheen blazed his side towards a run-scoring recovery through his 14-ball lively stay at the crease.

The 24-year-old smacked four sixes during his full-blooded 30-run thunderclap, which included a searing hit way over the wide long-on region off Imad Wasim's bowling.

Shaheen was eventually knocked over by his Islamabad United counterpart Shadab Khan for a quick-fire 14-ball 30. Aiming to launch the United skipper for another six, Shaheen was outfoxed by the cunning spinner with a straight delivery.

Earlier in the match, Rumman Raees and Hunain Shah both struck with the new ball after Naseem Shah had bewildered Qalandars opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan with a maiden upfront. Fakhar Zaman and overseas star Shai Hope also failed to make any impact with the bat, as Qalandars managed just 26 runs in the powerplay at the expense of both openers.
