Pakistan's premier batting all-rounder, Agha Salman, had a lucky escape as the on-field umpire wrongly adjudged him not out on day 2 of the ongoing Test against Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Coming at seven, Salman played a fighting knock of 54 runs to save Pakistan from embarrassment. However, luck also favoured the right-handed batter, as he survived a caught-behind dismissal at a crucial juncture of the game.

The incident occurred during the 83rd over of Pakistan's first innings when Salman was trying to add some valuable runs to his team's total following the dismissals of Mohammad Rizwan and Khurram Shahzad.

After conceding eight runs, including a six, off his first four deliveries, Bangladesh's in-form pacer Taskin Ahmed bowled a lethal good length delivery that jagged back into Salman after pitching around the off stump.

As the ball deflected off Salman's pads, Taskin and his teammates appealed for a LBW. Meanwhile, Mehidy Hasan Miraz also timed his dive perfectly to claim a clean catch at the gully.

But, unfortunately for Bangladesh, on-field umpire Richard Kettleborough decided in the home team's favour, declaring the batter not out.

Bangladesh couldn't go upstairs to challenge his decision, as they had exhausted their DRS reviews. However, in the replay, the ultra-edge revealed a clear deflection off Salman's bat, leaving the Tigers disappointed.

Pakistan post 274 before Bangladesh openers go undefeated at stumps

Despite losing Babar Azam cheaply, Pakistan posted a respectable 274-run total in their first innings, riding on useful contributions from Shan Masood, Saim Ayub and Agha Salman.

In response, Bangladesh had a cautious start, with Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan going undefeated at stumps on day 2.
