In a game-changing moment, Delhi Capitals' Marizanne Kapp dismissed dangerous Smriti Mandhana with a slower delivery as the RCB skipper departed after a sensational knock of 74 runs off 43 deliveries in a record 195 runs chase.

It was a run feast at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru tonight as Delhi Capitals posted 194 runs in the first innings against home side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

The Chinnaswamy wicket played like how it's popularly known, and DC-W's gigantic score set up an entertaining chase.

While RCB-W started off on the backfoot with intense pressure, captain Smirit Mandhana stepped up when her team needed her services the most and displayed prolific batting brilliance to earn her side a fighting chance.

With Mandhana at the crease, RCB's hopes were buoyed by her reputation. She lived up to it and played some beautiful strokes to keep the run rate in check. Just after her half-century, Smriti smoked two back-to-back sixes to make a statement.

Meanwhile, in the 12th over, Smriti slammed a gorgeous six off Marizanne Kapp to further advance in the chase. However, Mandhana's resistance was halted by Kapp in the same over. She earned her sweet revenge by dismissing Smriti with a deceptive, slower delivery.

Kapp anticipated that Mandhana would continue her onslaught and thus chose to take the pace off the ball completely. The ball landed just short, and the RCB-W captain went on the back foot to execute a drive.

However, Smriti Mandhana was deceived by the pace completely, and the ball crashed her off-stump to end her courageous knock of 74 runs off 43 deliveries.

Meanwhile, Smriti, knowing that her wicket would possibly cost her team a record win, walked back in deep anguish. On the other hand, Kapp was pumped as she jolted RCB with a massive blow. She struck at the right time before Smriti could completely outclass the Delhi Capitals.

Having said that, irrespective of the end result, Smriti Mandhana played a crucial and brave innings for her side. It was a commendable effort that should be apprenticed and celebrated.
