In a high-octane PSL clash against table-toppers Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam unveiled his batting prowess by slapping two consecutive fours against Khushdil Shah as Zalmi dominated the powerplay period.

After an embarrassing defeat against Islamabad United the previous night, Peshawar Zalmi was up against the mighty force of Multan Sultans earlier today. While Zalmi is on the edge in the points table, the Sultans have qualified for the playoffs already.

Regardless, moving on from the humiliating defeat, Babar Azam and Saim Ayub walked out to seek redemption after opting to bat first. The Rawalpindi wicket suited the in-form batters as they took on Mohammad Ali and Iftikhar  Ahmed in the powerplay.

In a bid to stall the onslaught, Mohammad Rizwan introduced a bowling change and brought Khushdil Shah into the attack. However, Shah was off with his rhythm, and Babar Azam punished him rightly with his sheer class and elegance.

Babar Azam, who got run out for a duck last night, sought fitting redemption. Khushdil bowled a fuller delivery in the sixth over but offered wide room that allowed Babar to free his arms and smash a boundary through the small gap at covers.

That being said, Khushdil Shah didn't learn his lesson and offered yet another dolly to Babar Azam. He pushed back his length too short but again offered a huge width that allowed Babar to slap another boundary to the deep extra cover.

With those two fours, Peshawar Zalmi's captain had regained his rhythm after an unfortunate failure. His contributions with the willow have been a key in the Zalmi's success as they navigate their way through a playoff finish.

Having said that, the task is still too steep, and it's perennial for a man in form, Babar Azam, to bat deep and lead his side to a formidable first-inning total.
