In the third and final ODI of the three-game series between Afghanistan and Ireland, KKR star opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz smashed a thumping six over long-on off Mark Adair’s length delivery. Gurbaz’s sublime form is an encouraging sign for KKR ahead of the IPL 2024 commencement. 

Afghanistan met Ireland for the third and final ODI of the three-game series earlier today. After Afghanistan won the series opener, the following game was washed out due to incessant rain.

Regardless, for the series decider, Ireland won the toss and invited the Afghans to bat first. Openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran walked out, and the former, who has been in sublime form, was off to business early into the powerplay.

Gurbaz, who hit a century in the first game, continued his dream form by slamming a scintillating maximum over the long on off Mark Adair’s length delivery. The opener premeditated the shot by dancing down the track before Mark’s release of the ball.

While Gurbaz got into an awkward position, he middled the shot to record the first six of the innings. The KKR star further capitalized on the momentum to register yet another half-century before Andy McBrine got him in a soft dismissal.

Having said that, Gurbaz’s sublime form is a massive encouraging sign for Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2024. Gurbaz is a key opening option for KKR, who is explosive and extremely good with the new ball at the same time. He can set a great platform for the middle order to build on.

Notably, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will kick off their IPL 2024 season campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 23 at Eden Gardens.
