DEL-W vs GUJ-W: Toss Factor

The Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi has been featuring two kinds of pitches. One generally acts slow and tends to favour the bowlers- both pacers and spinners. The other is better suited to batters, resulting in high-scoring games. Since dew does not play a role in this case, the team that wins the toss will usually bat first.

Scenario: If Delhi Capitals win the toss

  • Since there is still competition for the top spot that's a sure-shot ticket to the final, they could look to bat first without any experimentations.
  • All-rounders such as Alice Capsey, Marizanne Kapp and Alice Capsey are important picks from the Delhi Capitals.
  • Meg Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues are in good form while Titas Sadhu and Radha Yadav could be value picks.

Scenario: If Gujarat Giants win the toss

  • Having won their two matches while batting first, Beth Mooney would look to do the same.
  • Overseas players such as Beth Mooney, Laura Wolvaardt and Ashleigh Gardner are crucial names for fantasy team captain or vice-captain.
  • Either Tanuja Kanwar, Shabnam MD Shakil or  Meghna Singh won't be a bad option.

DEL-W vs GUJ-W: Top Captain and Vice-captain Picks

Scenario: If Delhi Capitals win the match

Meg Lanning (DEL-W): The former Australian captain is the second highest leading run-getter in IPL 2024. She has scored 290 runs from seven innings and has an outstanding average of 41.43. Lanning, the skipper of the team has the most number of fifties (4) in the tourney.

Jess Jonassen (DEL-W): The all-rounder was the purple cap holder until the 18th match of the season. She has bagged ten wickets with three three-fers under her name. Jonassen is also very effective with the bat as she can bring quick runs lower down the order.

Scenario: If Gujarat Giants win the match

Beth Mooney has been in great form in the last three matches (Source: x.com)Beth Mooney has been in great form in the last three matches (Source: x.com)

Beth Mooney (GUJ-W): The skipper of the side has dragged the side this far from a precarious position. Having scored 285 runs in seven innings, Mooney has led the Gujarat Giants from the front with an outstanding average of 57. She is a consistent batter and one can expect her to go strong one last time to maximise their chances of the Eliminator.

Laura Wolvaardt (GUJ-W): The South Africa Women captain has been brilliant in playing the supporting role to Mooney for the last few matches. She has scored 160 runs from five innings with a brilliant 75 under her name. She also got a good start in the last game before getting dismissed in early forties.

DEL-W vs GUJ-W: High Risk, High Rewards

Marizanne Kapp (DEL-W): Due to the on and off policy of Delhi Capitals, Kapp hasn't been able to continue her good momentum with both bat and ball.  She has the ability to wreck the opposition with the ball and can also play stellar knocks in the middle order.

Ashleigh Gardner (GUJ-W): The Aussie all-rounder has been contributing in some sorts- either batting or bowling, throughout the competition. Gardner has the ability to up the ante in the middle order batting, and she can also spell web around the batters with her off-breaks.

DEL-W vs GUJ-W: Stay Aways

Taniya Bhatia (DEL-W): The wicketkeeper-batter is not operating as a regular batter for the side. Its likely that she won't give too many points.

Mannat Kashyap (GUJ-W): The spinner is yet to trascend her domestic excellence into the WPL stage. She played a few games but is yet to make a mark.
