With a couple of months still to go, Virat Kohli's spot in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 is once again under scrutiny, with reports suggesting a potential drop. However, England legend Stuart Broad dismisses these reports, firmly believing that Kohli will indeed be selected for the mega event.

While Rohit Sharma is all set to lead the Indian team in the World Cup, a report from The Telegraph casts doubt on Virat Kohli's inclusion in the squad. The report indicates that Kohli's place is not assured, with selectors contemplating the inclusion of younger players.

Although players' positions in the T20 squad will be determined by their performances in IPL 2024, there are suggestions that chief selector Ajit Agarkar has been tasked with persuading Kohli to step aside for emerging talents.

The report also suggests that selectors perceive Kohli's T20 performance to be below par. However, a strong showing by Kohli for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the upcoming IPL could prompt selectors to reconsider their stance.

While these reports are speculative and nothing has been confirmed, Broad dismisses their credibility, asserting his belief in Kohli's selection for the mega event.

"This can’t be true. Just from a fans point of view of growing the game, the ICC putting games on in America, India Vs Pakistan in New York, Virat is the biggest draw of any player in the world, I’m sure he will be selected,”  Stuart Broad wrote on X.

Kohli, who recently took a break from the five-Test series against England due to the birth of his second child, is expected to join the RCB camp before March 17 as RCB is scheduled to host their annual 'Unbox' promotional event on March 19 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
