The Hubli Tigers are taking on the Bengaluru Blasters in the ninth match of the Maharaja Trophy 2024. The match is being played at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Hubli Tigers restricted the Begnagluru Blasters to a moderate total

Manish Pandey, the captain of the Hubli Tigers won the toss in the match and opted to field first. The Bengaluru Blasters did not have a great start to their innings as they lost two early wickets and were struggling. However, Chethan LR (48 off 35) and Shuhang Hegde (52 off 36) did a good repair job and took the team towards a respectable total. But the Tigers kept chipping away with the wickets and bundled out the Blasters for 142 in 19.5 overs.

The Hubli Tigers would have hoped for a realitively easier chase as the scoreboard pressure was not too much. Even though they lost an early wicket, Thippa Reddy and KL Shrijith stitched a partnership of 81 runs and got the team going towards a comfortable win.

But after this things started to fall apart for the Tigers. They kept on losing wickets and as a result the scoring rate also dipped taking the target out of their reach.

Manish Pandey was upset with his dismissal

Manish Pandey, the skipper of the team and one of the mainstays of the middle order was the foruth wicket to fall. He scored 6 runs off 12 deliveries before Kranthi Kumar got him out caught behind the stumps.

However, Pandey was not happy with the decision. He expressed his frustrtation while walking back as hed had an animated conversation with the umpire. Although Manish Pandey looked unhappy, the umpire was not ready to listen to him and the batter had to walk back to the hut.

Although, the Tigers were in trouble at this stage, Aneeshwar Gautam and Manvanth Kumar, in the end ensured that they won the match by five wickets with seven balls remaining in the game.
