In a rare moment, the opening batter for Team Abu Dhabi, Phil Salt, smashed a glorious six which caught the attention of a kid at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Recently sold to RCB for IPL 2025, Salt did woo the kid, besides guiding his team to an emphatic 8-wicket win.
The Abu Dhabi T10 League 2024 provided yet another interesting encounter when the host Team Abu Dhabi crossed swords with Chennai Brave Jaguars in the 23rd match. An exceptional outing by the bowling staff of the hosts restricted Jaguars to just 103 runs total. While the chase initially looked easy, the visiting team did tighten the leash to control the flow of runs.
Phil Salt steals show in Abu Dhabi T10 League
That being said, Phil Salt was in a rush. Opening the inning for Team Abu Dhabi, Salt was aggressive from the word go. He began the chase with a boundary off Nuwan Thushara. Later, facing Ali Khan in the 7th over, Salt thumped a powerful six over the long-off boundary to add 6 quick runs to his team’s tally.
While Ali Khan’s plan to deceive the batter with a yorker was correct, Salt anticipated it to make room for himself and using his powerful muscles, the opener’s lofted shot went all the way for a maximum. Interestingly, Phil Salt's hit was so stunning that even a kid from the stand ditched her phone in order to admire the hit. The cute moment was captured on the cameras, and now it is widely posted on social media.
That being said, Phil Salt’s carnage in Abu Dhabi T10 League 2024 comes just days after he was bought by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
In a tight bidding contest with KKR, RCB held the final paddle to secure the explosive opener for INR 11.50 crore. Salt, who played a huge role as an opener in KKR’s IPL 2024 title-winning campaign, will now showcase his talent at the hitter-friendly M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
For now, RCB fans can enjoy Phil Salt’s impressive form and hope to witness something similar in the IPL 2025 season.
