Days after getting picked by IPL defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Afghanistan wicket-keeper opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz smashed a blazing 52 off just 21 balls to guide his team UP Nawabs to an emphatic one-sided victory. Gurbaz scored 3 boundaries and 5 sixes to lit up the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

UP Nawabs were up against Deccan Gladiators in the 19th fixture of the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2024 season. The Gladiators, led by Nicholas Pooran, struggled with the bat to post 112/9 runs on board in the first innings.  In response, Nawabs’ opening pair, featuring captain Rahmanullah Gurbaz, went all guns blazing.

Gurbaz Shines In Abu Dhabi With A Fiery Fifty!

Gurbaz, who recently rejoined KKR for IPL 2025, proved his mettle to slam a sensational 52 runs off just 21 deliveries. He took on Marcus Stoinis and Maheesh Theekshana to pound as many as 5 long sixes. While Gurbaz was dismissed shortly after getting his half-century, the captain’s exceptional knock steered UP Nawabs to a convincing 7-wicket victory in 8.3 overs.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz was most recently picked by his former team Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2025 mega auction. After the defending champions failed to retain Phil Salt, the next obvious choice was Gurbaz and KKR managed to buy him at his base price of INR 2 crore due to lack of bidders.

Sherfane Rutherford scores historic ton in T10 League

Batting against UP Nawabs, Sherfane Rutherford of Northern Warriors smashed an extraordinary hundred to script a record. With 103* off 40 balls, Rutherford slammed the maiden century ever registered in T10 League’s history. At a spectacular strike rate of 257.50, Rutherford hit 7 big sixes and 10 boundaries to help the Warriors post a 142/4 runs total. While the bowlers couldn’t defend the target, Rutherford hogged the limelight with a memorable achievement.
