England-based franchise cricket veteran Alex Hales muscled 75 unbeaten runs from just 30 deliveries to boost Ajman Bolts to a monumental total against Bangla Tigers in match number 22 of the 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 League. Opening the innings at the Zayed Cricket Stadium after being invited to bat first, the lanky right-handed batter clobbered six boundaries and six sixes to blaze the Bolts to a staggering 133-1 from 10 overs.
Hales’ gung-ho approach to the death overs fueled a 31-run victory for Ajman Bolts, and also fetched him a well-deserved ‘Player of the Match’ souvenir.
Alex Hales goes berserk, clatters Rashid Khan and co.
After a string of four successive low scores in the ongoing 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 League, Alex Hales found his tune against Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangla Tigers and made the most of his newfound belligerence by smacking a whirlwind 30-ball 75*.
Clattering six boundaries and six sixes in his innings, Hales unleashed three of those sixes off Afghanistan spin wizard and T20 legend Rashid Khan. The Englishman also pounded Pakistani all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed with a slew of boundaries in the latter half of the Ajman Bolts innings.
Apart from Alex Hales, his opening partner Shevon Daniel made 27 from 18 at the top while unbeaten Jimmy Neesham chipped in with 20* off 13 balls as the Bolts notched up 133-1 at the end of their 10 overs.
Chasing 134 for a win, Bangla Tigers had their response halted at 102-6 to fall 31 runs short of their target. Captain Shakib Al Hasan top-scored with an unbeaten 29 while Pakistan international Iftikhar Ahmed clubbed 21 from just eight balls.
Alex Hales won the ‘Player of the Match’ award, and his booming knock helped Ajman Bolts record their second successive win of the 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 season to climb to number six on the 10-team points table.
