In a massive blow to the Pakistan cricket team, key fast bowlers Shahnawaz Dahani and Ahmed Daniyal have been ruled out of the ODI series against Zimbabwe due to injury setbacks. The duo remains unavailable for selection for the series decider scheduled on November 28 as the board recalled them to Lahore for further assessment.
Pakistan, under the leadership of Mohammad Rizwan, is currently on tour to Zimbabwe for a white-ball series consisting 3 ODIs and as many T20Is. The visitors suffered an upsetting loss in the first ODI before they bounced back with one-sided victory in the second contest. Now, to claim the series, both teams will lock horns on November 28 in the third and final ODI.
Shahnawaz Dahani, Ahmed Daniyal flies back to Pakistan
However, hours before the game, the Pakistan cricket team took a massive blow. Fast bowlers Shahnawaz Dahani and Ahmed Daniyal picked up injuries during the practice session on Sunday, as reported by PCB. While Dahani slammed his left ankle, Daniyal strained his hamstring muscle.
After careful evaluation, Pakistan team management decided to fly back both the bowlers to Lahore where they will report at the National Cricket Academy for further assessment.
As replacements, PCB called up Abbas Afridi and Jahandad Khan, who will join the squad in Bulawayo soon. Notably, Afridi and Jahandad are already part of the T20I squad for the upcoming series against Zimbabwe, which will begin on December 1.
Pakistan’s combination to change for series decider
Pakistan cricket team is likely to enforce changes to the playing XI for the final ODI against Zimbabwe. With Dahani and Daniyal out, Mohammad Rizwan’s options are limited. However, in a significant change, the skipper can axe Aamer Jamal who has been ordinary in the first two games. Mohammad Hasnain, who is coming off a successful domestic stint in the One-Day Cup, is the favourite to replace him as Pakistan’s third pacer.
