In an extraordinary display of sensational power hitting, English wicket-keeper Phil Salt annihilated Gulbadin Naib to slam 34 runs in his 5th over in the Abu Dhabi T10 League contest between Team Abu Dhabi and Ajman Bolts. The expensive over consisted of 5 sixes and a single boundary as Salt led Abu Dhabi to an emphatic victory.

Abu Dhabi T10 League 2024 edition kicked off on November 21 with Ajmal Bolts up against Team Abu Dhabi in the opening fixture. Bolts batted first at Sheikh Zayed Stadium and mustered only 79 runs in the first innings. Mark Adair, Zeeshan Naseer, and Kadeem Alleyne scalped 2 wickets each to restrict Bolts to a lowly total.

In the second innings, Ajmal Bolt found a ray of hope as Paul Stirling was dismissed off a duck in the first over. However, Phil Salt channelled his inner beast to thump Bolts out of the contest in style.

Gulbadin Naib came in to bowl the 5th over but little did he know the carnage that awaits. Phil Salt slammed 2 back-to-back sixes to mid-wicket and long-on boundary. However, Naib learned nothing from the carnage and kept feeding him slot balls.

Salt was in the mood to punish, and after a boundary to long-on on the third ball, Phil Salt hammered as many as 3 consecutive sixes, all over the bowler’s head, to fetch a 34-run mega over. That over soared Abu Dhabi’s total from 41/1 to 75/1.

Eventually, Abu Dhabi secured a thumping 9-wicket victory after wrapping up the chase in 5.4 overs. Salt proved to be a star with a remarkable 53 off 19 balls knock at a 278.95 strike rate, which included 6 sixes and 2 boundaries.

This fast paced tournament will last only 10 days from November 21 to December 2. Abu Dhabi will face UP Nawabs next on November 22 at the same venue from 7.15 PM IST.
