Gun Indian fielder Virat Kohli dropped an absolute sitter to reprieve Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran in the opening Group 1 Super Eight match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

Kohli, stationed at backward point, unexpectedly dropped the catch after Zadran had attempted to punch Arshdeep Singh’s short-of-length delivery off the back foot.

The Indian cricketing legend went airborne, however, the ball slipped past his hands in the third over of the Afghanistan innings.

As it turned out, a passionate Indian fangirl among the crowd, seemingly frustrated by the dropped chance, let out her anger by hurling a sequence of abuses towards Virat Kohli.

Team India faced Afghanistan at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown on June 20 in their opening Super 8 match of the 2024 T20 World Cup. After the ‘Men in Blue’ had amassed 181-8 from 20 overs, Afghanistan lost opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for just 11 in the second over of the run-chase.

Apparently, the Indian bowlers were also presented an opportunity to dismiss Ibrahim Zadran the following over off Arshdeep Singh, however, a dropped chance from Virat Kohli at backward point helped the Afghanistan opener ended up extending his stay at the crease.

Mere moments after Kohli’s dropped chance, live cameras caught an Indian fangirl among the crowd, visibly throwing insults and abuses towards the legendary Indian batter.

Apart from his occasional fielding blunder, Virat Kohli is also struggling to put runs on the board this 2024 T20 World Cup. In four innings so far this tournament, the cricketer has tallied just 29 runs at a substandard average of 7.25.

As of now, Kohli is gearing up along the rest of his national teammates to face Bangladesh on June 22 at North Sound.
