Controversies are very common nowadays despite the technology's usage in the modern era of cricket. Such a scenario took place when Quinton de Kock was given not out by the third umpire on Friday after Mark Wood's catch was initially given out by on-field umpires Sharfuddoula and Chris Brown.

It was a high-voltage match between England and South Africa, and de Kock made headlines with a swashbuckling half-century against Jofra Archer and his boys. Then, during the ninth over of South Africa's innings, the South African wicket-keeper batter went for a sweep in the air against Rashid Khan.

The timing was not right, and Mark Wood, who was perfectly placed, did not move an inch before completing the catch.

While English players were celebrating, umpires went for a recheck after watching de Kock's not-too-convinced attitude on the catch. And third-umpire Joel Wilson, despite having any conclusive evidence, gave it not out, leaving Buttler and co. furious.

Wood came immediately to Sharfuddoula, and tried to explain what happened. Buttler kept on watching the conversation, while Sharfuddoula replied he had nothing to do on the decision.

De Kock eventually fell for a 38-ball 65, and it was Jos Buttler, who took a stunning catch to end his stay.
