Rahmanullah Gurbaz got Afghanistan off to a flying start on Thursday (June 20) when they faced India in Super 8 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval.

However, it did not last long, as Jasprit Bumrah proved to be too smart for him.

Just after smashing Arshdeep Singh for a six and a four in the opening over, Gurbaz seemed to be crucial for Afghanistan after they came to chase a challenging target of 182. Therefore, Rohit Sharma did not wait for long to bring out his trump card, Bumrah, and his ace man took little time to repay his faith.

It was a brilliant slow delivery by Bumrah which was well outside the off stump. Gurbaz went for an attack while chasing the ball, and in the process, he got a thin edge. Rishabh Pant made no mistake with the big gloves, and hence, he had to walk back to the pavilion.

Gurbaz was so disappointed with himself, that he sat for a while at the crease. He even attempted to throw his bat in frustration before eventually preventing him from doing that.

At the time of writing this, Afghanistan are 29/3 after 5.5 overs, needing 153 runs off 85 balls for the win.
