Afghanistan found themselves in deep trouble when their key batter, Ibrahim Zadran, threw away his wicket to Obed McCoy's delivery. Chasing a huge target of 219 set by West Indies, Afghanistan's morale took a significant hit after this crucial dismissal.

West Indies dominated the game from the start. Nicholas Pooran delivered a spectacular innings, scoring 98 runs off 53 balls, including 8 sixes and 6 boundaries, before being run out just shy of a well-deserved century.

Pooran had scored 36 runs off Omarzai's over with three huge sixes and two boundaries. Four byes, five wides, and a boundary off a no-ball took the over tally to 36 runs.

Earlier, Johnson Charles had set the tone along with Pooran with a quick 43 off 27 balls.

Captain Rovman Powell and Shai Hope contributed with quickfire cameos, taking hosts West Indies to an excellent total of 218-5 in 20 overs.

It wasn't a wicket-taking delivery from Obed McCoy. McCoy bowled a fuller delivery on the pads, and Ibrahim Zadran flicked it straight to the deep square-leg fielder, Johnson Charles, who made no mistake.

Despite Zadran's perfect timing, the ball was hit flat, allowing Charles to take a straightforward reverse-cup catch without moving an inch.

This wicket was crucial as Zadran was building a solid innings for Afghanistan. Obed McCoy struck again in the same over, dismissing Najibullah Zadran and putting Afghanistan in deeper trouble.

At the time of writing, McCoy had taken three wickets, including Mohammad Nabi's, which had put Afghanistan on the backfoot.

West Indies and Afghanistan have already secured their spots in the Super Eights. This match, though a dead rubber, will determine the group winners.
