In an entertaining encounter between Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers, Chris Lynn thumped a huge six against Tom Rogers to bring up a maximum on the first ball of the fourth over. Lynn’s hard hit went over the mid-on boundary to award six runs to the explosive opener.
The Big Bash League is back with its new season, and for the 20th fixture, Adelaide Strikers faced Melbourne Renegades at the Docklands Stadium. The Renegades posted a below-par total of 142 runs on the board batting first, and in reply, Strikers’ opener Chris Lynn unleashed his carnage.
Chris Lynn entertains crowd with blazing inning
Lynn came out with aggressive intent, and after settling himself on the crease, he went for a big six against Tom Rogers. For the very first delivery of the fourth over, Rogers attempted to cramp Lynn for room by following him with a back-of-a-length delivery as the batter shuffled to the leg side.
But Lynn, in his trademark style, adjusted effortlessly, swinging hard and depositing the ball over mid-on. The shot cleared the ropes with ease, showcasing the brute strength and precision that have made him one of the most feared hitters in T20 cricket and reminded fans of his glory days when he used to destroy bowling attacks for fun in BBL and IPL for KKR.
Chris Lynn never looked back after that shot as he slammed a 31-ball half-century and finished with 88 off 51 balls to steer Adelaide Strikers to an emphatic 5-wicket victory.
Glenn Maxwell shines with a brilliant fielding effort
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell pulled off an extraordinary catch during the Big Bash League (BBL) clash between the Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat. The dramatic moment came when Daniel Lawrence threw a tossed-up delivery. Prestwidge hit it well and sent the ball flying towards long-on.
To the naked eye, it looked like it would sail over the ropes. Still, Glenn Maxwell, stationed by the ropes, had other things in mind. Maxwell judged the ball’s trajectory perfectly and timed his jump to perfection. In a breathtaking move, he leaped high, extended his right hand, and plucked the ball mid-air. What made the effort all the more impressive was Maxwell's balance, so he did not step over the boundary line, even with the momentum.
