"The @englandcricket men’s team must cancel their match against Afghanistan in the ICC Champions Trophy group stage on Feb 26. The Taliban’s disgusting and ever-worsening oppression of Afghan women, including banning them from all sports, is unconscionable. Time we took a stand."
England Asked To Take Inspiration From Australia
It is worth noting that Australia were the first team to take a stand against the oppression faced by Afghan women as they have twice cancelled their bilateral tours against Afghanistan because of the ongoing oppression by the Taliban in the Asian country.
The CEO of Cricket Australia have made it clear that they will not engage in any kind of bilateral tours with Afghanistan unless they improve the situation against Afghanistan. However, Australia continue to play Afghanistan in ICC events.
Thus, it is to be seen whether England will take a stand or not. They will face the Afghans on February 26.
