Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese recently had the Indian cricket team over at the Kirribilli House in Sydney on the eve of New Year. As he greeted every player one by one, the PM stopped Virat Kohli and seemed starstruck as they shared a warm moment.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is set for a final dance at the Sydney Cricket Ground as India gears up to face Australia on the fifth, starting from January 3. The host team holds a 2-1 series lead after taking an emphatic victory in the fourth Test at Melbourne.

For both teams, the stakes are higher as the World Test Championship final qualification hangs in the balance. Hence, a fierce fight is expected to pan out for the final Test.

Australia PM becomes fan of Virat Kohli

Meanwhile, before the on-field rivalry began, Australia’s prime minister, Anthony Albanese, hosted the entire Indian cricket team to the Kirribilli House to celebrate New Year. Albanese and his fiance, Jodie Haydon, greeted the team and support staff warmly.

However, Albanese had a separate moment with superstar cricketer Virat Kohli. He stopped the line and brought out his phone to show Virat some images from the past. The duo shared a good laugh before Kohli posted a photo. The moment caught fans’ attention as the PM appeared starstruck by the Indian cricketer.

The fifth Test between India and Australia is also special because both teams will be supporting the McGrath Foundation, a charitable trust set up to spread awareness for breast cancer.

Team India faces a serious dilemma with playing XI

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy took an ugly turn for team India as they lost the Boxing Day Test to go 1-2 in the five-game series. Moreover, ahead of the must-win fifth Test, rumours suggest that the playing XI will undergo significant change. As per some media reports, captain Rohit Sharma is likely to be dropped for Shubman Gill. Moreover, Akash Deep is out due to a back injury. Rishabh Pant’s place is also under scanner as Dhruv Jurel awaits an opportunity.
