After showcasing his exemplary batting in the ongoing Pakistan Champions ODI Cup, Babar Azam has decided to try his hands at spin-bowling, something which he has rarely done at the international level for the Pakistan cricket team.

Playing for the Stallions, Babar has been the best batter of the tournament, scoring runs in every single game he has played. The Pakistan batter has looked in top-notch form and is finally back amongst the run-getters after a disastrous series against the visiting Bangladesh side.

Babar turns off-spinner as Stallions aim for breakthrough

He even slammed a brilliant hundred for the Stallions in the last Champions Cup ODI game, making a statement that the old form is back. However, in the ongoing contest, things have not gone well for his side. The opening combination of the opposition team, Saim Ayub, and Azan Awais added 138-runs for the first wicket as the Stallions' bowlers toiled hard for wickets.

The duo looked comfortable and churned out runs comfortably. With run-scoring becoming easy, Stallions skipper, Mohammad Haris rolled the dice and decided to try out a different bowler - Babar Azam. Babar, traditionally an off-break bowler was given the task to get the breakthrough.

In the 2 overs that he bowled, Babar couldn't get a wicket, but was economical, getting away with just 9 runs.

Babar aims to get amongst the runs ahead of England Tests

Babar has had a woeful 2024 thus far. He failed to deliver in the series against Australia, Down Under, and also couldn't do much in the T20 World Cup as Pakistan crashed out in the group stage itself.

A lot was expected of him in the Bangladesh series, but the former Test skipper could only add 64 runs in 4 innings as Pakistan lost the series 2-0. As a result, he even slipped below the 10th position in the ICC Test rankings.
