South Delhi Superstarz captain Ayush Badoni's explosive innings came to an abrupt halt when Deepak Punia secured a crucial breakthrough for West Delhi Lions, bringing an end to what had been a destructive display of batting.

In an entertaining clash between South Delhi Superstarz and West Delhi Lions, the latter batted first and posted a competitive total of 178 runs.

However, the Arun Jaitley Stadium pitch was favourable for batting, and South Delhi skipper Ayush Badoni unleashed carnage after his team lost opener Saurabh Deswal on a golden duck.

Badoni was unfazed by the easy loss of a wicket and smashed Saksham Gahlot for 24 runs in the second over. The explosive over consisted of four sixes.

South Delhi were almost racing away in the chase before Deepak Punia picked the much-needed breakthrough for his side, the West Delhi Lions.

Ayush Badoni fails to covert good start!

Punia maintained his composure and bowled a delivery that tempted Badoni into a big shot. In the second delivery of the fourth over, Punia took the pace off the ball and Badoni was completely undone by the tactic.

The skipper tried to hit through the line but due to lack of footwork, he mistimed his shot badly. Rahul Gahlot was stationed at mid-off and caught the ball comfortably to dismiss Ayush Badoni against the run of play.

The dismissal of Ayush Badoni proved to be a turning point for West Delhi. Badoni's departure slowed down the run rate and allowed West Delhi to regroup.

With their most threatening batter back in the pavilion, the team capitalised on the momentum shift, tightening their grip on the match.

Rain Ruins South Delhi Superstarz' Hopes

Later, rain played spoilsport as the game couldn't continue after 15 overs. Hence, West Delhi Lions were awarded a 4-run victory as per the DLS method.
