West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recently took a jibe at Union Home Minister Amit Shah following his son Jay Shah's election as the ICC Chairman by sarcastically referring to Shah's new role as the "most elevated achievement" of his life.

Jay Shah's rise in cricket administration is not an overnight affair. His career began in 2013 with the Gujarat Cricket Board and gradually transitioned into BCCI.

Shah served multiple terms as BCCI secretary, where the Indian cricket team ended their ICC trophy dry spell to win the T20 World Cup in Barbados.

Meanwhile, in the latest achievement, Jay Shah was elected as the new ICC chairman unopposed, thus becoming the youngest one to hold the office.

While Jay Shah's resume is noteworthy, his rise to the top post was deemed less about merit and more about his political lineage.  Jay Shah is the son of Union Minister Amit Shah, and hence, he faced nepotism charges all his life.
