In a scathing attack on PCB, Pakistan's veteran cricketer Ahmad Shahzad has decided to pull out of the upcoming Domestic Cricket Champions Cup, citing disrespect and injustice towards domestic players.

With a view to bridge the gap between international and domestic cricketers, PCB formulated a unique Domestic Cricket Champions Cup where promising talent from every corner is supposed to get a chance.

To mentor these players, the board appointed Waqar Younis, Misbah-Ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Saqlain Mushtaq and Sarfarz Ahmed on a three-year contract worth $5 million.

However, the structure of the set-up irked Ahmad Shahzad as he called out PCB's meritless system and announced his exit from the tournament.

Shahzad accused the board of faking promises and indulging in favouritism which is not acceptable to domestic players.

Not only that, Shahzad accused the board of wasting money on mentors and underperforming international players while the country of Pakistan reels under extreme poverty and inflation.

Not only that, Ahmad Shahzad raised an objection to PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi's comments on lack of players in the pool for surgery. He deemed it a direct disrespect to domestic players who have been proving themselves day in and out.

Lastly, Shahzad added that as a Pakistan cricketer, he cannot support a failed set-up designed without merit and, hence, won't feature in the Champions Cup.

Pakistan cricket's downfall has reached absolute rock bottom as they lost to Bangladesh by 10 wickets in the first Rawalpindi Test last week.

And Ahmad Shahzad's accusations further raise serious questions about the competency of the newly appointed PCB leadership.
