The Women's Premier League 2024 final witnessed a remarkable turn of events as the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women faced off against the Delhi Capitals Women at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday.

The Delhi Capitals Women were off to a blazing start after winning the toss and opting to bat first, Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma provided a flying start, putting on 64 runs without losing a wicket. It seemed like they were on track to reach a formidable total.

However, the tide turned soon after the Powerplay as Sophie Molineux and the rest of the spinners put pressure on the Delhi Capitals Women.

Molineux made a significant impact by taking three wickets in one over, sending back Shafali Verma, Alice Capsey, and Jemimah Rodrigues, reducing them to 64 for the loss of three wickets.

Despite the setback, Meg Lanning and Marizanne Kapp attempted to stabilize the innings. However, when Meg Lanning was dismissed, Marizanne Kapp took it upon herself to lead the charge.

However, Kapp's aspirations were dashed when Shobhana Asha intervened with different plans. Attempting to execute a shot without proper footwork, Kapp aimed to loft the ball over the long-on region.

Unfortunately, the lack of pace on the ball coupled with insufficient bat speed resulted in a misjudged shot. The ball landed safely in the hands of Sophie Devine, who had displayed exceptional fielding prowess throughout the match.

The drama continued in the over as Asha claimed another crucial wicket, this time dismissing Jess Jonassen. Jonassen struggled to read the spin web spun by Asha, resulting in her downfall.

At the time of writing, RCB are cruising in the chase with score reading 49/0 after seven overs in the 114-run chase.
