India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh flaunted his hitting skills in the 2nd T20I against South Africa held at Gqeberha. With the men in blue struggling to score runs, Singh went for a heavy maximum against Nqabayomzi Peter to get off the mark in style.

After a dominant victory in the series opener, Indian batters were humbled in the 2nd T20I held at Gqeberha. Openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma made their way back in the first 2 overs of the game. Wickets fell like a pack of cards as Protea pacers breathed fire.

Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh also disappointed as India were left reeling at 87/6 at 15.2 overs. Meanwhile, tailender Arshdeep Singh walked into bat at no.8 to support Hardik Pandya. However, the left-arm pacer was in the mood to contribute with that bat.

To get off the mark, Arshdeep Singh went after Nqabayomzi Peter in the 15th over. Peter bowled a fuller delivery at stumps, and Arshdeep went down on his knees in a premeditated slap shot. Only this time, he connected and timed the shot well, and the ball went sailing over the deep square leg boundary for a maximum.

Arshdeep Singh has previously tried to pull off a similar stunt many times in the past. But due to bad timing, he couldn’t execute it. Finally, his connection and timing aligned to fetch him the desired results.

That being said, Arshdeep’s six runs were valuable in a low-scoring game. India finished with 124/6 at the end of the first innings, and those runs were enough to unleash a fight.

Meanwhile, Indian bowlers made a game out of the 124 runs on the board to defend. Varun Chakaravarthy grabbed a sensational fifer to leave South Africa reeling at 66/6 in 12.2 overs. His victims include the entire middle order of Proteas, including Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram, David Miller, and Heinrich Klaasen. India is already leading the 4-game series 1-0, and Varun’s sensational spell presented an opportunity for the men in blue to extend the lead.
