Axar Patel was arguably India's best batter in the ongoing 3rd T20I Vs South Africa, but an unfortunate run-out ended his stay at the crease. India won the first T20I, rather comfortably and had a great chance to seal the series today, but South Africa had some other plans.
India lost Sanju Samson for a duck and others followed him soon as the batters crumbled against a quality South African bowling attack. Seeing wicket fall at regular intervals, Axar was promoted at number 5 and the left-handed batter made the most of it.
He looked compact and was certainly India's best batter as Team India eyed a decent total on a sporting wicket. However, one lapse in concentration led to his wicket.
In the 12th over, Hardik Pandya drilled a fuller length ball towards the non strikers end and the bowler got a finger tip to it. Unfortunately, Axar was backing up too far down as he had no way out and the ball hit the stumps.
India in deep trouble as Proteas on top
India were put into bat and the decision paid off dividend for the Proteas as they dismissed Samson for a duck. Abhishesk Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav soon followed them back as India lost 3 early wickets.
However, Tilak Varma and Axar Patel had a brief stay, but the same pattern repeated as Tilak went back to the pavilion and Axar followed him soon.
Rinku Singh also failed to live up to the expectations as India are already 6 down and all hopes lie on the shoulders of Hardik Pandya, who is eager to finish on a high.
