Lockie Ferguson is known for his raw pace and is one of the fastest bowlers in world cricket. He has always been an impact bowler for his New Zealand but he has now created history against Sri Lanka in Dambulla by picking up an unbelievable hattrick to bring his team back in a low-scoring encounter.
The pacer has become the fifth New Zealand cricketer to take a hattrick and got the wickets of Kusal Perera, Kamindu Mendis and Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka. Sri Lanka are chasing the target of 109 and they lost their first wicket in the third over of the innings. However, Sri Lanka were still in a good position, but Lockie Ferguson got the big wicket of Kusal Perera on the final delivery of the Powerplay. It was a brilliant yorker which produced an outside edge and Mitch Hay behind the stumps took a fine catch.
Sri Lanka Waste All Their Reviews On Consecutive Deliveries
On the first delivery of his next over, which was the eighth one of the over, Lockie Ferguson trapped Kamindu Mendis infront a pacy delivery. The batter missed his flick and though he took the DRS, the Ball-Tracking showed that the delivery was hitting middle and leg. On the next delivery, Ferguson bowled a length delivery around leg and Sri Lankan captain, Charith Asalanka just managed to get a faint edge off his blade through to the keeper who grabbed another good catch diving to his right.
The Southpaw though took the DRS just like Kamindu and ended up wasting it as the UltraEdge showed a big spike when the ball was close to the bat. It reduced Sri Lanka to 34-4, and put New Zealand right back in the game.
