Guyana Amazon Warriors have scripted a historic win against Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in the recently concluded CPL 2024 match after Mohammad Amir failed to defend 16 runs in the final over.

The match went down the wire, as the Warriors required 16 to win off the final over with just three wickets in hand.

Experienced Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir came to bowl the final over and despite a dot first delivery, he got hit for two straight fours by Dwaine Pretorius, which led Warriors requiring 8 to win off three balls.

Amir regained some confidence on the fourth ball as he leaked no runs there, but things again went south for him when he conceded a boundary on the fifth ball.

The Warriors required four to win off the final delivery and Pretorious finished it off in style as he dispatched the last ball for a six.

Pretorius scored 20 (10), which featured three fours and a solitary six, but his knock helped the Warriors snatch a win out of the jaws of defeat.

Amir's Performance In The Match

Besides the last over, Amir was economical as he took no wickets, but gave just 17 runs in his first three overs. Notably, Amir's first over also was a maiden.

Second Straight Defeat For Antigua & Barbuda Falcons

Things have not started on a positive note for Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, as they registered their second straight defeat.

In their first match against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, batting first, they put 163/4 on the board. That match too went down the wire as SKNP took a single off the last ball to seal the win and leave the Chris Green-led side heartbroken.
