The Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are facing off in the second game of the CPL 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. The Falcons are looking to win this game and get themselves off the mark in the points tally after facing a defeat against the Patriots in the tournament opener. On the other hand, the defending champions, the Guyana Amazon Warriors, are in search of a positive start to their campaign.

Falcons posted a fighting total on the board

The Falcons batted first in this game after Imrah Tahir put them in on winning the toss. Carried by Fakhar Zaman's 40 off 33 and a late cameo by Imad Wasim (40 off 21), the Falcons managed to post 168/6 in their 20 overs.

The Warriors tried something different in the chase as they sent Gudakesh Motie to open along with Rahmanullah Gurbaz. It looked like a positive move when Motie a hit a six of Chris Green in the very first over. However, on the very next ball the Australian all-rounder made a comeback and uprooted the stumps of Motie to send him back to the hut.

Gurbaz failed to solidify the innings for the Warriors

The early wicket increased the responsibility on the shoulders of Rahmanullah Gurbaz to provide them with a solid foundation. However, the Afghan star failed to deliver as per the expectations as Imad Wasim caused his demise in the fifth over of the innings.

Wasim bowled a good length delivery outside the off stump on the third ball of the over. Having found his rhythm early, Gurbaz tried went down on one knee and was looking to play an aggressive slog sweep over the mid-wicket region. However, Gurbaz did not get the connection right and ended up getting a top edge. Shamar Springer, who impressed with some brilliant efforts in the field in the last game got underneath the ball and called for the catch. However, the ball slipped twice out of his hands, before Springer finally caught the ball, sending Gurbaz back to the pavilion.

At the time of writing, the Warriors are stationed at 103/5 in 15 overs.
