In the ongoing match between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the hosts are back in the driver's seat as they have taken 28 runs lead over the visitors.
Notably, in the first innings, New Zealand, batting first, put 235 runs on the board. In reply, India put 263 runs on the board courtesy of Shubman Gill's 90 (146), which featured seven fours and a solitary six.
Deep's Magical Delivery Stuns Tom Latham
Meanwhile, Akash Deep has hogged the internet for his sensational bowling as he bowled a jaffa to get rid of New Zealand skipper Tom Latham in the second innings.
On the 5th ball of the first over, Deep bowled a beautiful fuller delivery pitched outside the off-stump, and it nipped back in drastically to rattle Latham's middle stump. It was a peach of delivery as Deep exposed the gap between Latham's bat and pad.
Akash Deep Benched For First Test
Akash Deep has been a great find for India as he has acted as an understudy to Mohammed Shami. He has a lot of resemblance with Shami, who is currently out of action because of an ankle injury.
However, Deep's action and reliance on perfect seam movement is quite similar to Shami. He made his Test debut against England in the home series earlier this year.
He then featured against Bangladesh and impressed the critics by taking five wickets in four innings. Much to everyone's surprise, the Indian management decided to drop him for the first Test and play Mohammed Siraj over him.
Nonetheless, he returned to the line-up for the 2nd and third Test and has taken a wicket in each inning. Talking about the match, New Zealand are 15/1 after 5 overs and still trail by 13 runs.
