Much to everyone's wait, Mumbai Indians have released their retention list for IPL 2025. The five-times winners have retained five players. Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Tilak Varma are the five stars retained by Mumbai Indians.
MI have not gone ahead with the BCCI set retention slab and have distributed the 75 crore salary purse differently. Here is the complete list of all the retentions with retention spots and their salary. Further, MI have retained just five players and can use RTM option.

1st Retention For MI for IPL 2025 - Jasprit Bumrah
As expected, Jasprit Bumrah, who has been MI's best performer in the past few years, has been named the top retention and will earn 18 crores, the maximum among all players.
2nd Retention for MI for IPL 2025 - Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav, who recently succeeded Rohit Sharma to become India's new T20I captain, has been named the second retention and will earn 16.35 crores for IPL 2025. It is a massive increase from his previously salary of 8 crores.
3rd Retention for MI for IPL 2025 - Hardik Pandya
Mumbai Indians' skipper Hardik Pandya will be second joint-highest paid player for five-times IPL winners as Pandya will also earn 16. 35 crores for the upcoming season.
4th Retention for MI for IPL 2025 - Rohit Sharma
Former MI skipper Rohit Sharma, who was touted to leave the team, has been named as the fourth retention and will earn 16.30 crores. It is worth noting that there are reports that the hitman had asked MI management to be the fourth retained star.
5th Retention for MI for IPL 2025 - Tilak Varma
One of the best finds for MI during 2022-2024 IPL window is Tilak Varma. The southpaw performed for the Men in Blue during crunch situations and he has been awarded for his efforts. Varma will now earn 8 crores from IPL 2025 onwards.
Remaining Purse
MI have spent INR (18+16.35+16.35+16.30+8) = 75 Cr in retaining their players. They will go into the mega auction with a purse of INR (120-75) = 45 Crores.
