Riding on Akash Deep's seam bowling excellence, India had a dream start to the third Test of the three-match series against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The ace speedster from Bengal bowled a beauty to dismiss Devon Conway, drawing the first blood for India in this match.

The incident occurred during the fourth over of New Zealand's first innings after skipper Tom Latham won the toss and elected to bat first. After conceding three runs off his first ball, Akash Deep made a remarkable comeback, getting rid of Conway with a magnificent delivery.

From around the wicket, the right-arm speedster hit the corridor of uncertainty, with the ball jagging back into the left-hander from the fourth stump channel. As Conway went for a defensive shot, the ball beat him on his inside edge, hitting him on his pads.

As the Indian players, including Akash Deep, appealed for an LBW, the on-field umpire raised his finger without hesitation. However, Conway opted to challenge the decision by using the DRS.

Nevertheless, the New Zealand opener was eventually disappointed, with the TV umpire finding three reds in the HawkEye and asking his on-field colleague to stay with his decision. Thus, Conway made his way back to the hut, scoring only four runs.

Will Young Joins Tom Latham In The Middle

After Akash Deep got rid of Devon Conway, New Zealand's number three batter Will Young joined skipper Tom Latham in the middle. At the time of writing, the visitors were 23 for one, with Latham and Young batting on 16* and 1*, respectively.
