Islamabad United opener, Colin Munro lit up the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium with some serious power-hitting display in the 27th match of the Pakistan Super League 2024 against Multan Sultans on Sunday. In pursuit of a 229-run target, Munro provided just the kind of start that his team needed.

His partner, Alex Hales got out on the very first ball he faced in the first over. Salman Agha (2 off 5) also departed in the next over to leave the team reeling at 4 for 2.

However, the New Zealand batter didn’t succumb under pressure and instead took on a counter-attacking approach. He set himself going with a hat-trick of boundaries in the fourth over of the innings bowled by Mohammad Ali.

A short and wide delivery outside the off-stump was slapped through backward point for four. Ali then bowled a full delivery, which went over the top of mid-on for another boundary.

The bowled went for a short delivery to end his over and Colin Munro pulled that one over backward square leg for a maximum. He raced to 16 off just 10 deliveries, thereby, setting a foundation for a big score.

The New Zealand opener continued his fireworks, taking on every bowler that came his way. Munro smacked Jordan for a four and a six in the 6th over and followed it up with two consecutive sixes to Usama Mir in the next over.

Courtesy of those sixes, he raced to his half-century of just 23 deliveries. His blistering knock has helped the team reach 129 runs in just 10 overs with 100 runs needed in the final 10 overs. He eventually departed for 84 off 40 deliveries but managed to put his team in control in their bid to chase down a mammoth total of 229.
