Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan has made a dream start to his Test cricket career. In the absence of senior players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, Sarfaraz was rewarded with India Test debut and he grabbed it with both hands.

The 26-year-old played three Test matches in the series and accumulated 200 runs at an average of 50, including three half-centuries. Despite his terrific form, fans will miss his presence in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) as he didn’t find any takers in the auction.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer, Aakash Chopra, is unsurprised with the fact that the talented batter will miss the forthcoming season of the IPL.

If the auction had been tomorrow, he would have got a contract”- Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra is not too surprised with Khan’s absence and reckoned that Sarfaraz Khan would have been picked if the auction was to take place tomorrow.

“I am personally not that surprised, or I would say that I am as surprised as I am with the fact that Pat Cummins got 20.50 crore rupees. Recency bias is a very important thing. If the auction had been tomorrow, he would have got a contract,” Aakash Chopra said on JioCinema.

Playing his debut Test for India, Sarfaraz Khan played a terrific knock of 62 off 66 before getting run-out. He followed it up with another half-century in his second Test innings.

“Now we are definitely talking about him, that he plays this or that, but he is doing that here, just like Pat Cummins had won the World Cup,” Chopra added.

Various reports have emerged of late regarding Sarfaraz Khan being contacted by a few franchises; however, no official announcement has been made. Additionally, the Mumbai batter has represented a couple of IPL teams over the years, but never made any significant performance in the league.
