Pakistan batter Mohammad Haris claimed that batting in the middle-order is much more difficult that opening the innings in the Pakistan Super League.

Speaking to a local sports channel, Haris asserted that he can score a fifty easily in PSL if his team allow him to open the innings rather than have him bat in the middle-order.

"It's easy to score a fifty as an opener in the PSL. If you let me open, I will score a fifty as well," Haris told a local sports channel.

"No one is ready to bat at fourth and fifth as it's tough to bat in the middle order because the situation requires different demands at those positions, and you cannot be consistent," he added.

Mohammad Haris further highlighted the difficulty of performing consistently in the middle-order and labelled that as the big reason why not many players want to bat in those positions.

"Pakistani fans want consistency even at those numbers but it is difficult since one can perform three to four times out of ten. This is the reason many of them not batting at those positions," he added.

Mohammad Haris has been a vital cog for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League. In his debut game against Karachi Kings in 2022 PSL, he made heads turn with a 49-run knock off just 27 deliveries. He went on to score 166 runs in five innings during that season.

His current form, however, in the ongoing season doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence. His last five scores in PSL 2024 read: 20 (13), 1 (4), 2 (3), 12 (5), and 19 (19). Overall, he has played 24 matches in the competition, scoring 583 runs at a strike rate of 174.55, including three half-centuries.
