Jason Roy, the charismatic opening batter is out of IPL 2024 and KKR have drafted in fellow Englishman Phil Salt as his replacement. Roy has pulled out due to personal reasons and Phil Salt who played for Delhi Capitals last season has got another life in the lucrative league after going unsold during IPL auction in December 2023.

Phil Salt has been bought for his reserve price of 1.5 crore and is a like-to-like replacement for Jason Roy.

Phil Salt, like Jason Roy is an aggressive opener but his wicket-keeping skills provides more options to KKR, who were short of a quality keeper and this could be a blessing in disguise for Shreyas Iyer-led unit.

Jason Roy though did well in the 8 matches he played for KKR in IPL 2023 and scored two fifties as well. Phil Salt too scored two fifties in IPL 2023 in 9 matches he played for DC but was a bit inconsistent, which he would like to rectify this time around in Purple and Gold.

Phil Salt also has been in great form in recent times, and smashed back-to-back T20I hundreds against West Indies around the IPL auction last year. He would be itching to show his class in IPL and contribute in the success of KKR, who are looking quite a balanced unit after revamping their side ahead of IPL 2024.
