Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been on a record-breaking streak since the time he first made news as the youngest centurion in youth cricket. He has made remarkable progress in the last year or so, and also became the youngest centurion in IPL.
The 14-year-old continued his batting dominance for India U19 on the tour of England and was the leading run-scorer in the youth ODI series. However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is not limiting himself to batting, and it seems that he is a handy bowler too. In the ongoing, first Youth Test match between India U19 and England U19, he has bowled 13 overs and has picked two wickets with his left-arm spin.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Continues To Grow As A Cricketer
In the process, he became the youngest Indian to pick a wicket in a youth Test match, according to a report from Gulf News. He got to the landmark with a wicket of England captain Hamza Shaikh in the 45th over. He was batting on 84, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi got the better of him with a full toss. The wicket helped him break the record of Manishi, who achieved that feat against South Africa in 2019.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi then got the big wicket of Matthew Rew, proving to the world that he has the ability to contribute with the ball as well. He is just 14 years old, and if he continues to work on his bowling skills along with his batting, he could break plenty of world records in future.
Interestingly, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored only 14 runs in the first innings of the Test. So, he would be looking to contribute more with the bat in the second innings and prove his credentials further as a red-ball batter. Nevertheless, despite Vaibhav's failure, India did manage to score 540 runs in their first innings with Ayush Mhatre smashing a century and middle order batters contributing with fifties.
