In a last-over thriller, UAE scripted history with a 2-wicket win over Bangladesh in the second T20I of the 3-game series. The Tigers posted a huge total of 205 runs on the board in the first inning. However, the UAE were not as intimidated as the openers stacked up a 107-run partnership. While the middle order collapsed, tailenders kept fighting and upset Bangladesh to seal a historic win.

Here’s how UAE vs BAN 2nd T2OI panned out in Sharjah:

Tanzid Hasan Sets The Tone With Fiery 50

Bangladesh once again batted first, but this time, the openers stacked a brilliant 90-run partnership. Tanzid Hasan hit a half century (59 off 33 balls), and skipper Litton Das supported him with 40 off 32 balls. The openers had done their job, putting the UAE bowlers under pressure. Moreover, the middle order rose to the occasion and switched gears to ensure a big finish.

Bangladesh Put 205 Runs On Board

Towhid Hridoy played an excellent finishing knock of 45 off 24 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Najmul Shanto added 27 off 19 balls, while Jaker Ali hit a quick 18 off 6 balls. Owing to such timely contributions by the middle order, Bangladesh managed to break the 200-run mark and finish with 205/5.

On the other hand, for the UAE, Muhammad Jawadullah conceded 45 runs, while Dhruv Parashar leaked 40 runs. Besides Haider Ali and Muhammad Waseem, all bowlers had an economy rate above 10 runs per over.

Zuhaib, Waseem Get UAE Off To Blazing Start

Though the target was steep, UAE openers Mohammad Zuhaib Khan and Muhammad Waseem knitted an 100-run impressive partnership. While Zuhaib played a supporting role of 38 off 34, Waseem single-handedly carried the chase. He hit 82 off just 42 balls and put quality Bangladesh bowlers under pressure.

However, Shoriful Islam got crucial breakthroughs, dismissing both set batters, Waseem and Zuhaib. At 148/3, UAE needed 58 runs off the last five overs.

UAE Stun Bangladesh To Seal Last-Over Thriller

Meanwhile, after the openers fell, the UAE spiralled, and the middle order succumbed to pressure. Wickets fell in clusters, with the required run rate soaring over 10 runs per over. Regardless, the UAE’s tail-enders didn’t give up. Haider Ali added life to the game with 15 off 6 balls.

In the last over, UAE needed 12 runs, and Tanzim Shakib made a complete mess for Bangladesh. He bowled a full toss, which Dhruv shoved into the stands for a maximum. Though he dismissed Dhruv, a no-ball and swift running between the wickets helped UAE script history as they defeated Bangladesh for the first time in T20Is. They sealed a nerve-racking thriller to win the game by 2 wickets and levelled the 3-game series by 1-1.
