Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Harshal Patel has made history as the fastest Indian bowler to 150 wickets in the IPL, achieving this milestone in just 117 games. He broke the previous record held by Yuzvendra Chahal.

Patel, acquired by SRH for INR 8 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, unleashed his dominance in the recent encounter with LSG. Hyderabad were bowling first, and in death overs, Harshal was tasked to control the scoring rate.

At the right, he dismissed a set batter and, in the process, ended up scripting IPL history.

In the 16th over of the first inning, Harshal Patel went wide of the crease and delivered a slower dipping yorker, perfectly aimed at the middle stump. LSG batter Aiden Markram, who was batting at 61, was anticipating a full toss and set up to drive big.

But the ball dipped sharply, went under the bat, and shattered the stumps. With that, Harshal claimed his 150th IPL wicket, becoming the fastest Indian to reach the milestone in just 117 matches, surpassing Yuzvendra Chahal (118 matches) and Jasprit Bumrah (124).

Fastest Indian bowler to reach 150 IPL wickets

  • Harshal Patel (117 matches)
  • Yuzvendra Chahal (118 matches)
  • Jasprit Bumrah (124 matches)
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar (138 matches)
  • Amit Mishra (140 matches)

Indeed, Harshal's journey in the IPL has been inspiring. He was not an overnight sensation but worked his way through into getting consistent games. His ability to bowl those death overs and pick wickets has made him a match-winner.

Meanwhile, despite a 115-run opening partnership between Markram and Mitchell Marsh, SRH bowlers did a brilliant job to restrict LSG to a 205-run total. Eshan Malinga picked 2 wickets, whereas Harshal and Harsh Dubey contributed with a wicket each.

While SRH are out of playoff contention, winning this game is a must for LSG to stay alive in the top 4 race.
