Legendary Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his wife, Anushka Sharma, are one of India’s most loved celebrity couples. The cricketer and Bollywood star tied the knot in December 2017 in a private ceremony in Italy, but their busy careers haven’t made it easy for them to spend time together.

After several years of courtship, Kohli married Anushka at a discreet ceremony in Italy in 2017. Since then, they’ve always supported each other, both on social media and in real life.

However, the initial phase of their marriage was extremely difficult, as their hectic career schedules kept them apart.

Anushka Sharma Opens Up On Struggles Of Married Life

In a past interview with Vogue India, Anushka Sharma revealed a surprising fact. She said that during the first six months of their marriage, she spent only 21 days together with Virat Kohli.

Despite of the long-distance problems, their love has increased. Their deep love for one another and each other's understanding saved them from the troubled period, and today, after 8 years, the couple is living a blissful married life.

“People assume when I’m visiting Virat or when he is visiting me that it’s a holiday, but it’s really not. One person is always working. In fact, during the first six months of our marriage, we spent 21 days together. Yes, I actually calculated. So when I visit him overseas, it’s to squeeze in that one meal together. It’s precious time for us," Anushka said in 2020.

They also became parents of two kids, a daughter Vamika, who was born in January 2021, and a son Akaay, who was born in 2024. Not only that, but to give their kids a more private and peaceful life, the family moved to London.

Virat Kohli Embraces Spirituality

A day after retiring from Test cricket, Virat Kohli visited Vrindavan with his wife, Anushka Sharma, to seek blessings from spiritual guide Shri Premanand Govind Sharan Ji Maharaj. This marked Kohli’s third visit, reflecting his deepening spiritual journey. Dressed in simple white, the couple sought peace away from the spotlight. Premanand Ji has previously credited Anushka for guiding Kohli toward devotion and balance amidst his cricketing fame.
