When it comes to sports, some fans pledge loyalty, others pledge their entire love lives. A certain Bangladeshi cricketer supporter at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium seemed to belong to the latter category, as he was spotted waving his loyalty, with a sense of humour, on a placard.

The incident occurred during Bangladesh’s innings in the second T20I of their three-match tour of UAE in Sharjah, where the fan made a vow of not marrying until his nation wins a Cricket World Cup.

No World Cup, no marriage for a Bangladesh fan

On Monday, May 19, a Bangladesh fan attending the UAE vs BAN second T20I match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium was spotted holding a hilarious placard. The board in contention read:

“I will never get married until Bangladesh win a World Cup.”

Even the on-air commentator at the time reminded the fan of the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup in India and the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, before jokingly giving him two opportunities to sort his life decisions.

As far as cricketing action is concerned, Bangladesh trumped hosts UAE by 27 runs on May 17 to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Batting first in the second T20I, opening batter Tanzid Hasan slapped a swift half-century at the top of the order, while captain Litton Das compiled 40 runs from 32 balls. Towhid Hridoy at number four also chipped in with a valiant 24-ball 45 during the backend of the innings.

For the UAE, fast bowler Muhammad Jawadullah picked up three wickets in the innings at an expense of 45 runs from his four overs. Saghir Khan picked up remaining two wickets as Bangladesh mounted a total in excess of 200.
