Islamabad United lock horns with Peshawar Zalmi in Match 20th of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Monday (March 4). As the battle for the play-offs intensifies, the United franchise take on their Zalmi counterparts in the Rawalpindi leg of the competition. 

It's an important encounter for both sides left stranded in the middle of the points table. While Zalmi are placed third in the six-team PSL 2024 standings after three wins and two losses plus a draw, the Islamabad franchise is fourth with two wins, three defeats and a no-result in their last game.

The rain-abandoned draw against the Quetta Gladiators made life tricky for the United as they required a victory to attain an even split of 3-3 after six matches and strengthen their push to qualify for the PSL playoffs. 

The no-result fixture left spin allrounder Shadab Khan-led side on the fourth spot in the league table, with only four league games remaining to cement their qualification berth in the next round. 

United, however, would take confidence from their comprehensive victory over the Karachi Kings in their last completed game and take the momentum with them into the clash against the Zalmi.

Peshawar Zalmi

After losing their opening two matches against the Gladiators and Kings, the Peshawar franchise has made a roaring comeback to contention in the PSL 2024 with three consecutive victories. 

The no-result fixture due to rain against the Lahore Qalandars disrupted their trail but the ace batter Babar Azam and his men will take great heart from their resounding win over the United in their previous encounter of the tournament. 

The win against Islamabad would be a huge boost for the Zalmi franchise as they look to once again flex their muscles past their United counterparts.
