Delhi Capitals Women's young batting sensation, Shafali Verma, was left devastated after being dismissed off a seemingly nothing delivery against Gujarat Giants Women in WPL 2024, leaving her heartbroken as she dragged herself out of the field. 

In the 10th fixture of the WPL 2024 season, in-form Delhi Capitals Women were up against Gujarat Giants Women at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. 

Delhi batted first as the dynamic opening duo of Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma walked out to cause destruction in the powerplay.

However, in an early blow, Verma was dismissed off an ordinary delivery, which left her utterly disappointed with herself.

The young Indian opener started big with exciting boundaries off Tanuja Kanwar. In the same over, she earned a lifeline as Kanwar couldn't hold onto a caught and bowled chance. 

Regardless, Meghna Singh ensured that the dropped chance did not cost her team big time. In the third over, Singh set up Shafali with an inviting fuller delivery on the pads towards the leg stump. Verma flicked it towards the on-side but found a fielder at square leg.

Wolvaardt was extremely alert, and the ball was shot at a decent height towards her. But the experienced protea kept her calm and plucked a regulation catch to end Shafali's short stay at the crease.

Meanwhile, Shafali Verma was in complete shock to have found a fielder. She looked in much control but failed to anticipate the ploy. The batter looked extremely pissed with her own self for getting dismissed off a nothing delivery.

Despite Shafali's unfortunate dismissal, Delhi Capitals Women have enough depth in the middle to pose a big total on board.
