Delhi Capitals skipper and Australian legend Meg Lanning pummeled Gujarat Giants spinner Tarannum Pathan for a huge six over long-off to celebrate her landmark knock in WPL 2024.

Leading her side in match number 10 of the competition, Lanning started patiently before unleashing a brutal sequence of extraordinary boundaries all over the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Delhi Capitals skipper Meg Lanning lost her opening partner, Shafali Verma, in just the third over of the innings at the hands of Gujarat Giants seamer Meghna Singh.

Shortly after Verma's early dismissal, Lanning took a cautious approach to steer her side past the 50-run mark alongside number three batter Alice Capsey.

After reaching 23* off 27 balls by 9.3 overs, the 32-year-old unleashed the first signs of her aggressive intent by pummeling Tarannum Pathan over long off for a huge six.

Lanning eventually raced to a 39-ball half-century before she became Meghna Singh's third victim of the innings. Bludgeoning six boundaries and a six, the former Australian cricketer listed 55 runs from just 41 deliveries to lead her side's run-scoring charge in the first 13 overs.

During her knock, Lanning also completed 9,000 career runs in her T20 profile. Remarkably, she achieved the feat in just her 289th T20 innings, surpassing Sophie Devine to become the quickest to crack the landmark figure.
